Hey everybody! It seems that I misread the e-mail regarding the wake-up call from @tyrabanks! All students who are over the age of 13 and living in the U.S that register at http://getschooled.com/wakeup WILL receive the wake-up call! The wake-up calls will be made throughout the school year from various artists including Tyra banks, Nicki Minaj, Greyson Chance and many more! This is all apart of their initiative to get students up in the morning and in attendance at school!

I think adversity has been a gift to me. I think the colour of my skin, being a black woman, that is a gift. First of all, I love the colour of my skin and the colour of my people, but with this comes adversity. With this comes doors that had been slammed in my face constantly, even as a model back in my modelling days. I’d say, almost every single day I heard “You can’t do this fashion show because you’re black”, “You can’t do that magazine spread because you’re black”, “You can’t have this contract, modelling contract, because you’re black”, “You can’t be on the cover of a magazine because you’re black”. Of course they get you down but for some reason there’s something inside of me that goes “You say I can’t? Really? Watch me”.
